E35 Longcase


A William and Mary, Floral Marquetry Longcase Clock, Signed. Jonathan Lowndes (Loundes) in Ye Pall Mall. Month going walnut and marquetry inlaid longcase clock. circa 1690, 10½" square dial. The inside countwheel bell striking, movement with latches to the 5 ringed pillars, an anchor escapement, calendar aperture, set under the number 12, of the chapter ring. (This is rare) harboured winding holes, angel heads spandrels. Restoration work to hood, formerly rising hood, 2 brass coated weights 28 Lbs each. Height 6ft 8" Dial 10½ " square circa 1690, William and Mary (Period). 30 day movement.Jonathan Lowndes (Loundes) is recorded as a celebrated clockmaker working in Pall Mall, London in the last quarter of the 17th century. He was a member of the Clockmakers’ Company from 1680 to 1710 and was made Steward in 1696. Several of his clocks were in the Wetherfield Collection
